Safety & Compliance
Last updated: 6 July 2026
Genre Solutions treats the health and safety of our team, our clients and the public as a core part of how we deliver commercial cleaning. We operate under a documented Work Health and Safety (WHS) framework aligned with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and its associated regulations, and we keep our procedures under regular review.
Our WHS commitment
As a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) under WA WHS law, we take reasonable steps to provide a safe working environment, safe systems of work, and the information, training and supervision our team needs to work safely on your premises.
Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
Before commencing work at a site, we prepare or follow a Safe Work Method Statement appropriate to the tasks involved — particularly where work is higher-risk (for example, work at height, use of powered equipment, or working in occupied areas). SWMS identify the hazards, the control measures in place, and the safe sequence of work.
Site risk assessments
We assess each site for hazards such as slips, trips and falls, wet floors, electrical hazards, manual handling and restricted-access areas. Controls — including signage, cordoning of wet areas and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) — are applied to reduce risk so far as is reasonably practicable.
Safe chemical handling and storage
Cleaning chemicals are used, stored and disposed of in accordance with the manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We maintain SDS for the products we use, provide our team with the correct PPE, and store chemicals securely and separately from incompatible substances. We favour lower-toxicity products where they are fit for purpose.
Staff training and inductions
Team members receive an induction covering our safety procedures, correct use of equipment and chemicals, manual-handling technique and hazard reporting. Where a client site requires a site-specific induction, our team completes it before starting work.
Screened, trustworthy staff
We understand our team is often working in your premises outside business hours and around your property. Our cleaning staff are subject to background screening, including a current National Police Certificate check, before they are assigned to client sites.
Insurance
Genre Solutions holds public liability insurance and maintains workers' compensation cover for our employees as required under WA law. Evidence of currency of insurance is available to clients on request.
Incident reporting
Hazards, near misses and incidents are reported and recorded so we can investigate and improve our controls. Where an incident is notifiable under WA WHS law, we notify WorkSafe WA and the relevant parties as required, and preserve the incident site where the law requires it.
Hygiene protocols
We apply sound hygiene practices across our cleaning services, including correct use of colour-coded equipment to reduce cross-contamination and appropriate disinfection of high-touch surfaces. Where a client requires enhanced infection-control or COVID-19 protocols, we will agree these as part of the service scope.
Compliance and continuous improvement
We review our safety procedures periodically and update them to reflect changes in legislation, codes of practice and the risks of the sites we service.
